Gender diversity in the graduate program

The Graduate Program is committed to supporting and implementing the priorities and actions identified in the NSW Women’s Strategy 2023-2026 aimed at advancing women’s economic opportunities and gender equity.

While women’s workforce participation in NSW has increased over the past two decades, women continue to experience unequal opportunities and outcomes in the workplace.

The Graduate Program hopes to contribute to efforts progressing women’s economic potential by increasing pathways into work, fostering ambition in young women, and boosting career choice and earning potential.

We aim to pursue and embed the strategy’s commitment to gender equality and challenging gender norms, roles and expectations that may limit women’s opportunities.

The Graduate Program is placing a distinct focus on employing women in STEM through our engineering and digital streams, which are traditionally male-dominated industries.

The NSW Government strives to ensure that it is an inclusive and safe place for women to work. We are dedicated to supporting women’s health and wellbeing needs and removing the barriers they face in advancing in their careers.

This includes enhancing paid parental leave entitlements for all NSW public sector employees regardless of gender, encouraging safe and supportive workplaces through prevention of sexual harassment, and providing access to mentoring opportunities.

We recognise that addressing gender inequity requires applying an intersectional lens. We highly encourage women from diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, culturally and linguistically diverse women, people with diverse sexualities and women with disability to apply to the program.
